From January to December 2015, the value of my country's textile and apparel imports and exports to the United States increased. At the same time, the average unit price of my country's apparel exports fell slightly last year.
According to industry insiders, the increase in my country's clothing export value is mainly due to the rapid growth in the number of woven clothing, which reflects that my country still needs to increase support for the transformation and upgrading of clothing export enterprises in the future to improve the competitiveness of clothing companies in the international market.
According to data provided by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles, from January to December 2014, my country's textile and apparel trade with the United States was US$45.57 billion, an increase of 7.3%. Among them, exports were US$44.74 billion, an increase of 7.5%; imports were US$840 million, a decrease of 3.7%; and the surplus was US$43.90 billion, an increase of 7.7%.
From the perspective of major categories of commodities, textile exports for the year were US$11.29 billion, an increase of 6.0%, imports were US$790 million, a decrease of 4.2%; clothing exports were US$33.45 billion, an increase of 8.0%.
The top five provinces and cities in terms of export volume are Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shanghai and Shandong. Among them, Zhejiang’s export value was 10.05 billion US dollars, Jiangsu’s export value was 10.45 billion US dollars, Guangdong’s export value was 8.49 billion US dollars, Shanghai’s export value was 4.51 billion US dollars, and Shandong’s export value was 3.59 billion US dollars.
As the main force of export, the eastern part accounted for 92.6% of the total export value, and the export value increased by 6.2%. Among the eastern provinces, Tianjin's export value increased by 12.8%, Fujian's export value increased by 9.5%, and Jiangsu's export value increased by 7.9%.
From the perspective of export regions, the total export value of Central China accounted for 5.3% of the total export value of the country, and the export value increased by 26.2%. Among the central provinces, Hunan's export value increased by 76.4%, Henan's export value increased by 61.9%, and Jiangxi's export value increased by 24.3%. The total export value of the western region accounted for 2.1% of the total export value of the country, and the export value increased by 29.2%. Among the western provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), the export value of Guizhou increased by 198.2%, the export value of Ningxia increased by 91.5%, and the export value of Gansu increased by 65.3%.
In 2014, my country's clothing exports totaled 35.5 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 7%; the value of clothing exports was US$159.4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%, and the growth rate of clothing exports was 1.8% higher than the export value. Among them, the export of woven garments was 13.3 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 25%; the export value was US$77.7 billion, a year-on-year increase of 20.
